The Ekiti State Government, through the Ekiti State Scholarship Board (ESSB), has officially announced the opening of applications for Scholarship and Bursary Awards for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This opportunity is open to Ekiti State indigenes studying in Nigerian tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other approved institutions.

Available Awards
The Ekiti State Scholarship Board is currently accepting applications for the following categories:
1. Bursary Award
For undergraduate students across approved tertiary institutions.
2. Scholarship Award
For:
- Undergraduate students
- Master’s degree students
- PhD students
3. Physically Challenged Scholarship
For physically challenged students studying in tertiary institutions, including postgraduate students.
Who Can Apply?
A. Bursary Award – Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be in 200 level or above
- Be a student of:
- University
- Polytechnic
- College of Education
- School of Nursing/Midwifery
- College of Health Technology
- Possess WAEC or NECO with:
- Minimum of five (5) credits
- Credits must include English Language and Mathematics
- Obtained in one sitting
B. Scholarship Award – Eligibility
Undergraduate Scholarship
Applicants must:
- Be in 200 level or above
- Possess WAEC/NECO with at least five credits, including English and Mathematics (one sitting)
- Meet academic requirements:
- University students: Minimum CGPA of 4.0 or Second Class Upper Division
- Polytechnic/NCE students: Minimum CGPA of 3.50
Master’s & PhD Scholarship
- Master’s applicants: Must have a minimum of Second Class Upper Division at the undergraduate level
- PhD applicants:
- Must have a Second Class Upper Division in the first degree
- Must have a Distinction at Master’s level
Applicants with lower than Second Class Upper Division at the undergraduate level are not eligible for a PhD scholarship.
Physically Challenged Scholarship
Physically challenged students studying in any of the following institutions are eligible:
- Universities
- Polytechnics
- Colleges of Education
- Schools of Nursing/Midwifery
- Colleges of Health Technology
- Postgraduate institutions
Important Exclusions
- Students on Part-Time or Sandwich programmes are NOT eligible for both bursary and scholarship awards.
